RSS has the highest value among Web 2.0 technologies, according to a Forrester Research report released last Friday.
The research firm surveyed 275 IT decision-makers online between April and June.
Twenty-three percent of those surveyed report substantial business value for RSS. One in three uses RSS for marketing purposes. Podcasting came in right behind RSS, with 21% reporting substantial business value.
By contrast, only 11% said blogging delivers substantial business value. Fourteen percent said their company does not measure Web 2.0 business value at all. Of those that do measure, the majority look at traditional metrics such as ROI and total cost of ownership.
In a another Forrester Report Rebecca Jennings (Research senior analyst) said that “Over the next few years, the shift of online marketing from experiment to mainstream will force marketing organizations and processes to change. As different types of social media like MySpace and peer reviews strengthen their grip on users, expect marketers to jump on the bandwagon by switching ad spend to social media forms like RSS, blogs, and networks.”
And You are you already using RSS into Ad or Marketing strategy

One of my daily tasks is to keep an eye on what’s going on in the world of RSS, today I decided to input RSS into
Google Trends just to see what is happening.

The interesting stuff however is in the countries tab, it seems Japan is leading the way - last time we check it was russia.

As you can see the USA, the UK don’t even figure in the top 10.However the search for RSS generator is a different story. india is leading and Australia is now second behind USA and UK

Big companies look after RSS service and Rmail is a strategic one. Last week i talk about Rmail and Randy Morin. And this week NBC universal annouced Rmail acquisition.
“We are pleased to announce that Rmail is now an NBC Universal property. What does that mean to Rmail users? It means a lot of new stuff is coming, as we finally have the team to make this joyride a rollercoaster. Stay tuned for more. In the meanwhile, same-old same-old.”
NBC Universal has made a acquisition that may become a key component its marketing future strategies. NBC dropped just $150,000 on Rmail, a startup that converts RSS feeds to email, according to CNET.
NBC already delivers content from MSNBC, NBC Sports, iVillage and DotComedy via RSS. And they plan to use it largely thank to rmail Service.

Randy wrote about RSS since a while, He has participated in a bunch of internet Companies. One of them is up to sale and it’s an RSS service so i ask him to answer to some question.
Next week he will annonce some big new about Rmail. but now he talks about his background and his work
Could you make a little presentation of your background.
“I’m a startup junky. I’ve participated in the creation of dozens of Internet companies and websites. Some are listed.
And your work at Kb cafe
KBCafe is my personal blogging network.
Why rss ?
RSS is the realization of the push Internet.
What are the best companies in RSS services ?
FeedBurner is the clear front runner.
Have you meet some company which really understand RSS revolution ?
The guys at FeedBurner seem to understand this best.
Why do you sell Rmail ?
What are your favorite RSS feeds ?
I don’t really think of RSS feeds in this way. I might have a favorite blog and that blog may have an RSS feed, but I wouldn’t suggest that I like any one RSS feed over another.
Which reader do you use ?
I use r-mail.org
Thanks Randy and good luck.

Today we became aware of a bug in the chicklet code for the Fedafi Wordpress Plugin. The bug stopped the chicklet from showing the correct data on the first of each month.
Below is a fix for this, unzip the archive and upload chicklet.php to your fedafi folder
/wp-content/plugins/fedafi/
Download the patch here.

It was good news that Google started sending subscriber details for their feed reader and interesting to see just what impact this has had on feed subscriber numbers.
Vecosys went from around 500 to over 850, Techcrunch from 160k to over 260k
Good news for Google as it shows they have a huge slice of the reader market.
However, Google say the subscribers are just those using Google Reader, it doesn’t mention those who add your feed to their Google Home Page. So, once again we are just measuring the technosphere and RSS needs more help getting into the lives of normal folk.

As far as we can see today Google started passing over subscriber numbers, which is great news.
Feedfetcher-Google; (+http://www.google.com/feedfetcher.html; 7 subscribers; feed-id=…)
Just a few weeks ago I posted about how some of the big online readers weren’t passing over subscribers and some were using none standard format, well Google is now doing both.
Just need Excite Mix to get onboard.
[update] If you are using the latest version of our wordpress plugin the Google count will already be showing in your stats - no waiting for a new release

We will be upgrading the ad server this weekend with hopefully little if any downtime. So if you notice any problems give it a couple of hours before getting in touch.
The upgrade appears to have taken without any problems. We have also enabled geo-targeting.

We’ve put together some RSS subscriber icons so that you aren’t stuck with the orange one that ships with the plugin. Just pick the one you want, upload it to wp-content/plugins/fedafi/ and rename it background.png
Download the zip file with them all in here.
